In 2008, the artist Esperanza Mayobre paid off the Third World debt in conjunction with the World Bank. In recognition, the leaders of the various countries thanked her by minting a bill with her image on it. The public is invited to take a bill when the work is exhibited—disappearing stacks of money echo the evaporation of money in the Third World. —E.M.

After paying off the debt of Third World Countries, the leaders publicly thank the artist Esperanza Mayobre for all her efforts.
