Reading a passage from her short story, “A Wife’s Story,” Bharati Mukherjee presents an Indian immigrant’s perception and experience of the insulting representations of non-white immigrants on Broadway and the subjective effects of the indifference and ignorance with which these representations are received by the dominant white community. This reading was recorded at The Scholar & Feminist Conference XXXII, “Fashioning Citizenship: Gender and Immigration,” held on March 24, 2007 at Barnard College.
