SPEAK! Radical Women of Color Media Collective CD

These are three tracks fom the SPEAK! Radical Women of Color Media Collective CD. In the summer months of 2008, the collective created and sold this compilation of spoken word, poetry, and song to raise money for single mothers and other financially restricted SPEAK! members to attend the Allied Media Conference in Detroit, Michigan. With works from artists and poets from all over the country, the Speak! CD is a testament of grassroots struggle, hope, and love.

The collective created a video and disseminated it throughout the blogosphere, a method of self-sustaining, community-supported funding (read: money that lasts and that people have control over) without dependence on grants or donations that could potentially quiet or co-opt (read: steal, take over) radical voices.
