Directed by Justin Baird and Jennifer Lahl, this 2010 documentary by The Center for Bioethics and Culture focuses on the short- and long-term risks of egg donation. Egg donation is sold to young women as an act of benevolence that, incidentally, will pay them handsomely. The film details the stories of several young women whose health was severely and permanently affected by their experiences as egg donors. The film also features interviews with experts in medical research and bioethics, whose loudest messages are the need for serious research into the risks of egg donation, and the fact that economically vulnerable young women are currently bearing the burden for the reproductive decisions of older women who can afford to pay for their eggs.
