Tyler Stovall

Tyler Stovall received his doctorate in modern French history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught at Ohio State University, UC-Santa Cruz, and at the Université de Polynésie française in Tahiti. He is currently a professor of history at UC-Berkeley and is the author of several books, including Paris Noir: African Americans in the City of Light (1996); recent works include The Color of Liberty: Histories of Race in France (2003), co-edited with Sue Peabody. He is currently working on the history of migration from the French Caribbean to France.
