Sigrid Schmitz
Sigrid Schmitz has for more than thirty years been researching and teaching in gender and science and technology studies with a focus on gender aspects in brain sciences and contemporary neurocultures, body discourses in neo-liberal societal changes, and feminist materialisms and feminist epistemologies. She is member of the NeuroGenderings Network and co-edited Gendered NeuroCultures: Feminist and Queer Perspectives on Current Brains Discourses with Grit Höppner. She has a PhD and a venia legendi in biology, was university lecturer at the University of Freiburg, and held professorships for gender studies at the University of Vienna and for gender and science at the Humboldt-University of Berlin. Recently, she chairs a research project for developing interactive Open Science Modules to transfer knowledge and to promote a reflective discussion about gender aspects into STEM disciplines.
