Nur Zeynep Gungor

Nur Zeynep Gungor is a research scientist in the Center for Brain Science in RIKEN, Japan. She completed her PhD in behavioral and molecular neuroscience in Rutgers University-Newark, New Jersey. She is an electrophysiologist who studies the neural activity in the brain regions that regulate fear and anxiety. Her research focuses on how the brain represents information that enables animals to process fear-related information and execute appropriate responses. She has various publications on the functions of the Bed Nucleus of Stria Terminalis and Amygdala, two brain regions important in regulating negative emotions. She also has a BA in sociology and is interested in gender studies.
