Nitasha Sharma

Nitasha Sharma is an Associate Professor of African American Studies and the Director of the Asian American Studies Program at Northwestern University. She is author of Hip Hop Desis: South Asian Americans, Blackness, and a Global Race Consciousness (Duke University Press, 2010). Sharma was the Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence at Northwestern University, where she is an affiliate in Performance Studies, American Studies, and the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research. She is writing an ethnography on the Black residents of Hawai‘i for Duke University Press called Hawai‘i is my Haven: Race and Indigeneity in the Black Pacific.
