Alissa Trotz

Alissa Trotz is Professor of Caribbean Studies and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto. Her research is situated within a tradition of feminist political economy, and a Caribbean feminist tradition in particular, and her current work examines transnational entanglements of diaspora, indigeneity, and extractivism in the colonial and contemporary Caribbean. She is editor of The Point is to Change the World: Selected Writings of Andaiye, published by Pluto Books in its Black Critique Series (2020), and translated into Portuguese by Editora Funilaria in Sao Paulo, Brazil (2022). For the last eighteen years, she has edited a weekly newspaper column, In the Diaspora, in the Guyanese newspaper The Stabroek News.
