Alex Alston

Alex Alston is a doctoral candidate in the English and Comparative Literature department at Columbia University whose work thinks ecologically about the semiotics of (anti-)Blackness and its entanglement with a specifically Euro-modern disavowal of (non)human animality. His dissertation will explore these distinct but overlapping and co-constitutive gravitational forces as they show up in and around late nineteenth and early twentieth century African-American literature.
